Nursing Homes

Introduction to Nursing Homes

Nursing homes, also known as long term care facilities are designed for people who can’t live independently.  Residents typically have difficulty with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, grooming and eating.

Nursing homes provide room and board and a range of care services, from personal care with nursing supervision, to skilled medical and nursing care for those with complex medical needs.

Eligibility for placement in a nursing home is governed by provincial legislation.
